¡Seperado!

Only the other day I was wondering about Gruff's Patagonian documentary Seperado and now he has talked about the film in an interview with Agit Reader. Here's what he said about Seperado;

'We’re going to show the film for the first time in November and hopefully someone will help me put out a DVD for release sometime next year. The film’s going to be called “Seperado.” I also did a soundtrack for it, so that will be my next solo album by default.'

News on Seperado and news on a solo album?!

There's been speculation on the SFA list that he might be showing the film at the Soundtrack Festival in November, where the Furries are also playing. As the festival is celebrating the relationship between film and music that would make complete sense - but I also hope there is some form of general release for the film. Even just a limited release in art house cinemas would be very appreciated. Fingers crossed he'll be able to release it on DVD, too (packed full of extras, eh? ...I don't want much).

I'd recommend reading the rest of the interview as Gruff also talks about the fabled Furries instrumental/soundtrack album (looks like it's been put on the back-burner)!

Reading between the lines a couple of cool points; Gruff infers the Furries will still be together in ten years and he also seems to suggest that there is a good chance of even more solo work from him ('...my next solo album.' not just 'a solo album.') But then maybe I'm reading too much into his words. As usual.

For some reason I'm even more excited about Seperado and it's soundtrack than I was about the new Furries album.

And so my Gruff obsession continues.

Soundtrack Festival 09

November 20, Coal Exchange, Cardiff
The Furries are playing another gig in Cardiff, for the Soundtrack Festival. It's part of the 25th anniversary celebration of their old record label Creation.

Tickets cost £20 and go on sale from 029 2023 0130 on September 24.

I dunno, all these gigs I can't go to...

Not sure how much the tickets are. Part of Liverpool Music Week and they're the best of the line-up if you ask me. But then I'm biased. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning, apparently.

October 9, HMV Forum, London
Looks like there's going to be another London gig for the Furries in October. It's at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town at 7pm. Tickets are available from Stargreen at a pricey £25.25.

November 7, Dubai Sound City, Dubai
That London gig isn't on the Furry MySpace page but this one is. I don't know if you can buy tickets yet but here's Sound City's facebook page anyway.

November, Tokyo and Osaka, Japan
According to the Citizen Board they are playing (I think) two gigs in Japan - Tokyo and Osaka - in late November. I have no clue where you can buy tickets for those gigs as the links don't work (plus, I can't read Japanese).

Beachdown cancelled

What more can I say? Bummer. Seems to me they should have got their act together and sorted this out before now. And only on Monday they said on their Twitter site that the festival, being held this weekend, was NOT cancelled. No, of course not. They wanted a few more people to buy tickets before they cancelled...

Possible Furry tour!

SFA have announced two new dates (so say Artrocker), tickets for which go on sale on Friday (August 7);

October 15, Glasgow, O2 ABC
Not sure where you can buy these, the ABC website doesn't have it up yet. But if you're on 02 (which I am), you should be able to already buy priority tickets. If you can find it. I can't. Maybe it doesn't actually exist...

Artrocker seem to think that these are the 'first dates of a soon to be expanded UK tour set to kick off in October'. Just a rumour at the minute as I've only seen it on the Artrocker website so far. But I do love a good rumour and I love spreading them even more. So here's the link. Which has no more information than in this post but, y'know, proof that I'm not just living in a daydream. Not this time, anyway.

I knew they were just teasing when they said they wouldn't tour. The little flirts.
